Аннотация: In the article are represented the data about the history of the formation of artificial reproduction in the northwest of Russia, the brief characteristic of the basic objects of breeding, development of the biotechnology of the cultivation of young fish and new methods of artificial reproduction is given. The revue of the function of the reproductiv complex of region, its role in preservation and increase of store of valuable commercial fishes, the existing problems and the methods of their solution is represented.
