Аннотация: A model of population and fisheries dynamics for the Northeast Arctic cod (Gadus morhua morhua) in the Barents Sea was developed. The model based assessments include: maximum sustainable yield (655,000 t) and corresponding fisheries mortality level (F) (0.48); maximum mean annual profit of cod fisheries (13.7 bln RUR) with F = 0.23; fisheries mortality level correspoding to maximum employment in fisheries F = 0.85. The existing cod exploitation level based on 0.4 target mortality level promotes for achieving the objectives to maximize catch and profit.

Аннотация: The article presents not only theoretical background for the primary production (PP) assessment based on hydrochemical indices, but also numerous examples of the PP assessment for polar waters, upwelling zones, and ultraoligotrophic tropical waters. All advantages of the PP assessment based on hydrochemical parameters are shown, including a better representation and a more thorough assessment of PP in the Wordld ocean.

Аннотация: Oceanographic surveys of high spatial resolution were carried out in the western Bering Sea during past few years, which allow estimating primary production in the region based on drawdowns of nutrients. Present work suggests a new method of net (≈ to new) and gross (≈ total) primary production assessment based on summer or autumn nutrients and dissolved oxygen profiles. For 2012, gross (or total) primary production in the region was in range of 50-250 g C m-2 a-1, while net community (or new) primary production reached 30-80 g C m-2 a-1. New to total production ratio was in range of 0.2-0.8. The presented new method revealed good agreement with previous studies and supposed for use in the future ivestigations.

Аннотация: Quantities and biochemical composition of dissolved and particulate organic matter (OM) as well as rates of the OM transformation in the Russian Arctic seas are analyzed. There is a significant variability in the OM concentrations with the maximum concentrations of dissolved and particulate OM in the White and Kara seas, while the minimum ones were observed in the East-Siberian Sea. Rates of the OM oxidation were maximum in various frontal zones formed with water masses of different origin as well as the seasonal ice melting. It is shown that despite low temperatures in the Arctic marine ecosystems, there is an intensive transformation of both autochthonous, and allochthonous OM, because local phsycrophils expend low activation energies on oxidation and hydrolytic splitting of OM. In the Arctic seas, the main biochemical components of the dissolved OM are carbohydrates and lipids, while proteins and carbohydrates dominate in the particulate OM.

Аннотация: Temporal and spatial variability of total productivity in Antarctic water depending on climatic conditions is considered. Favorable and unfavorable periods of commercial Antarctic krill concentration are established. The Antarctic krill is a most valuable fishing object in the Antarctic waters. It makes a basic part of feeding ration for numerous consumers. A spatial inhomogeneity of the Antarctic krill distribution is shown. Chemical indices of the high-productivity areas of the Antarctic water are established. It is shown the chemical indices of the dense Antarctic Shelf waters in the Slope areas intensified the Antarctic Slope front that is a most high-fish capacity area in Antarctic.

Аннотация: Change of weight of eggs of a sterlet after fixing is investigated. Its essential reduction when using three fixing solutions is shown: 4% solutions of formaldehyde, Serre's liquid and 96 degrees of ethanol. Need of definition and use of correction coefficients during the work with the fixed eggs of fishes is postulated.
